KANGAR: Police seized four white sacks containing 123 compressed blocks of marijuana on a Kuala Perlis beach on Wednesday.
A police patrol found the sacks, covered in Thai writing, abandoned on the beach at 10.30am.
Perlis deputy police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Baderulhisham said the 123 compressed blocks of marijuana were valued at RM382,540.
"The marijuana, weighing 123.4kg, is believed to have been brought in from Thailand.
"We have monitored the area to detect any group or individual approaching the sacks, however, failed to find anyone.
"The drugs seized could be used by 248,000 addicts, and we believe it was transported by sea before being moved to this country by land," he said in a statement today.
He added that investigations are ongoing.
"The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he added.
