KUALA LUMPUR: Despite their efforts to make ends meet, Hong Kong singer Steven Cheung and his wife Au Yin Man continue to face financial hardships.
Cheung, 40, has taken on various jobs, including construction work and distributing fliers to support his family of six.
The celebrity who was part of the Cantopop duo Boyz, even turned to online crowdfunding last March and was seen working at a snack shop in July.
In a recent Instagram update, Au, who married Cheung in 2019, voiced her frustration over their inability to repay their mounting debts.
She added that while they had received help from others in the beginning, everyone was now relentlessly pursuing repayment.
"I thought that things would get better by working hard and making changes, but it hasn't.
"I'm out of work, one child after another falls sick," said the 32-year-old.
Au clarified that her inability to repay was not due to unwillingness, but because she was genuinely unable to do so.
Cheung and Au have four sons – aged between one and five.
In 2019, Cheung faced heavy scrutiny following a cheating scandal involving four women, including Hong Kong actress April Leung. The singer has since been struggling to land performance opportunities.
