KUALA LUMPUR: Actor Farid Kamil plans to begin his master's degree studies at Universiti Malaya (UM) this March, provided his application is approved.
The 44-year-old artiste revealed that pursuing further education is part of his goals for 2025, BH Online reported.
However, he declined to disclose his field of study, citing the need to await confirmation of his application status.
"For 2025, I intend to return to being a student. I plan to advance to a master's degree and eventually a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).
"I've completed the application process and submitted it to UM.
"If there are no obstacles, I'll start this March. Registration is done, but I prefer to keep the specific field of study a secret until my application is confirmed," he said.
Farid shared that his decision was sparked by his participation in a recent Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Alumni Programme, where he realised the academic achievements of his peers.
"UiTM invited 100 of its top alumni. Among them were individuals of varying ages, most holding master's degrees or PhDs.
"I was the only one with just a bachelor's degree.
"After the event, I reflected on the milestones I could have reached earlier in life but postponed due to my focus on acting," he said.
Farid also revealed that he turned down an offer to lecture at a private university, feeling unprepared for the role.
"I don't think I'm qualified to share knowledge with students yet.
"Without a master's degree or PhD, I doubt I can conduct an effective class," he said.
