#SHOWBIZ: 'Bellas' unveil dance-pop track [WATCH]

THEY are both called "Bella" by family and close friends, and they share a love for catchy, upbeat songs, as well as a good rapport with fans on social media.

Melakan Nabila Razali, 32, and Sabahan Bella Astillah, 30, are teaming up for the first time in a single titled 'CACACA', which they hope fans will "soak up", particularly its catchy chorus.

'CACACA' contains educational and heartfelt lyrics beneath its syrupy and sweet sound, and promises a fresh and energetic musical experience that showcases the dynamic side of Nabila and Bella.

CHEERFUL

At the recent launch of the song in Star Boulevard KLCC, Kuala Lumpur, Nabila said 'CACACA' is a cheerful pop song with dance elements that raises the theme of self-confidence and freedom of expression.

"It's got a catchy rhythm and easy-to-remember lyrics, and we hope that it will create a new phenomenon among pop fans."

Bella said: "The song describes the balance between hard work and destiny in the pursuit of success.

"It shows the struggle to achieve dreams, and realising the importance of patience and perseverance."

Nabila said the lyrics also touched on unexpected challenges and the desire for emotional satisfaction.

"Overall, the song encourages listeners to keep trying, and to understand that effort and luck play a role in achieving our goals."

ENTHUSIASM

Bella said the recording began a month ago and both of them greatly enjoyed the process.

"Each of us was involved in conveying a positive message through this song. Our feedback was always taken into consideration," she said.

Nabila said: "'CACACA' really fits our vocals, like a dress that's just right for each of us.

"We've got a fantastic music producer, Adib Hussin, who understands our characters and vocals, and this makes it easier for us to deliver the song.

"Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly, and I'll always remember it as a fun and interesting project."

 SAME PAGE

Nabila and Bella found it easy to work together as they are mostly "on the same page musically".

"Although our schedules are packed, we both tried to give our best through this song," said Bella, adding that everybody involved in the project has guided them perfectly.

Nabila expressed confidence that the  target audience — young Malaysians, especially teenagers and 20-somethings — will "fall in love" with the song as it speaks to them directly in a friendly and funny manner.

"It's been great to record a song with Bella, and we both hope to do more such songs in future."

CHEMISTRY

Bella said she and Nabila have known each other for three years and are amazed by their "quick chemistry".

"The process of recording this song was pretty sweet. At first I was told that we were going to do a test key in the recording studio, and sang our hearts out," she said.

"But as soon as we finished, the producer told us it was an actual recording  and he loved the end result."

Bella described Nabila as a perfectionist like herself.

"Nabila works hard and is focused on quality in work.

"She displayed dedication and commitment throughout the recording, even though her baby is on the way," said Bella.

UPLIFTING SPIRITS

Bella said she has always wanted to record a song with Nabila whom she describes as a popular singer of catchy tunes.

She shares a similar love for such songs, particularly because they lift the spirits of listeners.

She also said the song is educational, and believes that all songs should always carry such messages.

SELF-RELIANT

Nabila said she was happy to be back in the recording studio following a brief hiatus that coincided with her marriage.

She has never thought of leaving the music scene as music is her passion.

"'CACACA' is good advice for young Malaysians, especially girls and young women.

"It motivates them to be self-reliant and have self-confidence.

"It also talks about self-love, and living for yourself, not for others," said Nabila, who will "become a mum" some time this month.

SPOTIFY

The song, distributed by Universal Music Malaysia and created by Mage, Ja'a and Ezra Kong, is available on all digital streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube Music.

The song's official music video features a colourful visual concept and energetic choreography that matches its theme.
