KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Siti Elizad Sharifuddin, 40, opened up about her 10-year journey of marriage and her struggles with not being able to conceive.
She recently shared her experience during a media session for the drama Berbahagi Suami in Petaling Jaya, expressing gratitude for her husband, Shamsul Baharin Rahman, and the lessons learned along the way.
"I used to dream of having many children and had even prepared a room for them, complete with a double-decker bed.
"But over time, I realised it's best to let go. I gave the bed to my friends because I didn't want to keep looking at it and waiting.
"Now, I've accepted that Allah has His plans. I'm at peace," she told BH Online.
Despite the challenges, Siti Elizad revealed her husband's unwavering support.
She even contemplated the possibility of polygamy to fulfill his desire for children.
"I told my husband that if he wants to marry someone else for the sake of having children, I'm okay with it. "But he reassured me that he's content and isn't pursuing that," she said.
Her struggles with infertility have been arduous. Siti Elizad underwent her first IVF treatment in February 2020 but sadly experienced a miscarriage in November of the same year.
She tried again in 2022 but faced another heartbreak.
Reflecting on her journey, she said, "People don't see how hard it's been—traveling for treatments, sitting alone with my thoughts."
"But I've come to appreciate what I have. My husband has never raised his voice or blamed me. We're happy, and that's what matters," she said.
