KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran singer Suliza Salam, 59, tied the knot with businessman Ismail A Ahmad in an intimate wedding ceremony held at her home in Bukit Kiara, here earlier today.
The ceremony, conducted around 11am, was attended by close friends and family members.
Expressing her gratitude, the singer of the 1980s hit, Untuk Sekali Lagi, shared her hopes for a lasting union.
"I pray that the home we've built will endure forever, even in the hereafter," she told Berita Harian.
Suliza revealed that her decision to remarry stemmed from her husband's sincerity and respect for her family.
"We've known each other for a long time as business partners.
"He knows my children and grandchildren, and I know his children too.
"This decision was only made with the blessings of our families," she said.
The singer emphasised the importance of legitimising their relationship, stating, "Good things shouldn't be complicated. Plus, it doesn't look proper for us to go places together without a legal bond. With everyone's blessings, we decided to make this relationship official."
Suliza praised her husband's character, describing him as a responsible and sincere individual.
"He's been a widower for 10 years, and I've been a single mother for three years. Alhamdulillah, we're grateful to end our singlehood this year," she added.
The private wedding marked Suliza's second marriage.
She was previously married to prominent businessman Datuk Zainal Nazeri Zainuddin on Jan 11, 1991.
The former couple, who never publicly disclosed their divorce, share three children: Nurizzati, Nur Falahi, and popular singer Ismail Izzani.
