#SHOWBIZ: Calpis Soda One in a Million: Top 100 unveiled!

KUALA LUMPUR: Calpis Soda, in collaboration with Media Prima, has unveiled the top 100 contestants for Calpis Soda One in a Million (OIAM), marking a grand comeback for Malaysia's iconic talent competition.

Following nationwide auditions that attracted over 5,000 participants across seven locations and online platforms, the show has entered an exciting new chapter.

First launched in 2006, OIAM became a groundbreaking platform for emerging Malaysian talents, propelling stars like Yuna, Suki Low, and Tomok into the spotlight.

Now, after a 15-year hiatus, the show is back with bigger stakes, offering a RM1 million grand prize, which includes RM500,000 in cash, a car worth RM200,000, and a recording contract.

Viewers also stand to win a Peugeot Landtrek each week by voting for their favourite contestants.

At a showcase and press conference held at Jio Space in Petaling Jaya today, the Top 100 contestants were revealed, alongside the competition's revamped format.

The event also introduced Calpis Soda's new Grape variant, capturing the spirit of the campaign's theme, #SejutaSodaSatuJuara.

Performances by celebrated singers Hael Husaini and Dayang Nurfaizah added glamour to the occasion.

Etika Sdn Bhd CEO Santharuban Thurai Sundaram expressed enthusiasm about the overwhelming response to the auditions, saying, "We are thrilled by the caliber of talent we've witnessed."

"This season is not just about entertainment; it's about discovering Malaysia's next big star and giving them a platform to shine."

The upcoming season promises to captivate both long-time fans and new audiences with a dynamic format featuring thrilling performances, emotional eliminations, and interactive voting.

The live shows will air on TV3 from Dec 22 to Feb 9, 2025, culminating in a grand finale.

Haniff Hamzah and Fiza Frizzy will host the show, bringing their unique energy to the stage.

Esteemed judges Datuk Yusry Abdul Halim, Ziana Zain, and Indonesian star Cakra Khan will guide contestants with their expertise, ensuring a mix of nostalgia and fresh perspectives.

"This season sets new benchmarks for music competitions in Malaysia, uniting Malaysians through their shared love for music," said Media Prima Television Networks CEO Nini Yusof.

"With new faces, groundbreaking moments, and exciting partnerships, OIAM is poised to deliver unforgettable experiences for contestants and viewers alike," she added.

Alongside Calpis Soda, the show partners with Peugeot, Yes5G, and OPPO to elevate the viewing experience.
