#SHOWBIZ: HK actress Elena Kong, 53, seeks younger love on dating apps

KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Kong actress and host Elena Kong recently revealed that she has been using dating apps, hoping to connect with younger men.

8Days reported recently that the 53-year-old decided to explore the apps after hearing about a friend who found "true love" through one.

However, Kong clarified that her intentions were different.

She talked about this during a livestream of a YouTube series she co-hosts with actor Carlo Ng.

"I was wondering, can you really find someone on it?" she said.

Kong was curious about the experience and downloaded several apps, trying them out for two weeks.

Unlike her friend, the Beauty Knows No Pain actress was not seeking romance but was open to casual hook-ups.

"I set the age range at 35 to 40 years," she said.

When Ng teased her about her preferences, asking if she was drawn to muscular men, she responded: "Of course! I need someone who can invigorate me, bring me new energy, and a fresh start."

The Triumph In The Skies 2 actress recounted meeting a man whose appearance did not match his profile photos.

When she confronted him, he became defensive.

Interestingly, Kong also took measures to protect her identity, using side-profile photos and an alias to avoid being recognised.

Her efforts, however, were thwarted when news broke about her presence on dating apps.

Following the revelation, she began receiving messages daily – on the apps, Facebook and Instagram.

"Some messages were very direct. One guy wrote, I'm 40, very fit, I'll give you an unforgettable night."

Kong has embraced the experience with humour and an open mind, proving that age is no barrier to exploring new possibilities.

She was previously married to Ng Kwan Cheung, the brother of actress Sandra Ng.
