KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia are assured of a men's doubles quarter-final spot at the Super 750 China Masters after Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and Nur Azriyn Ayub-Tan Wee Kiong won their respective first-round matches on Tuesday.
World No. 5 Aaron and Wooi Yik, after their last-16 exit at the Kumamoto Masters last week, overcame Indonesia's Shobihul Fikri and Daniel Marthin 21-12, 21-18.
Meanwhile, in-form Wee Kiong-Azriyn extended their fine run by defeating Thailand's Peeratchai Sukphun-Pakkapon Teeraratsakul 21-19, 21-15.
Wee Kiong-Azriyn, buoyed by their career-best semi-final finish in Japan last week, will approach their last-16 clash against Aaron-Wooi Yik with confidence.
