KUALA LUMPUR: The government is providing RM160 million to implement various initiatives for the benefit of artistes in an effort to support local creative talent and encourage more production of local artworks.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that the allocation for the Digital Content Fund (DKD) had increased by RM5 million from the previous RM60 million.
"The allocation of the DKD was increased to 65 million ringgit to promote works, especially those based on nationalism.
"Almost RM40 million was also provided under the Film Incentive in Malaysia (FIMI) to support the production of international films in Malaysia, while MyCreative Ventures received an allocation of RM25 million.
"This supports the creative industry through an injection of equity into high-potential companies and provides funding for creative social entrepreneurs," he said when presenting the Malaysia MADANI Budget 2025 (Belanjawan 2025) at the Dewan Rakyat, here, today.
Anwar, who is also the Minister of Finance, said that the MADANI Creative Youth programme will be organised to attract nearly 16,000 young people to enter the field of art with an allocation of RM30 million.
"Embedded activities include creative content videography skills workshops, film community development as well as short film competitions," he said.
