KUALA LUMPUR: Popular singer Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza has revealed that scammers have been using artificial intelligence (AI) to duplicate her voice to deceive the public.
Urging the authorities to act firmly against such criminals and advising the public not to be fooled by them, Siti said in an Instagram post yesterday that such people should be stopped fast.
"Don't believe in scammers. Some of them are trying to deceive netizens by using the names of celebrities, and their social media accounts have my name and photo.
"They use an AI voice that sounds like mine to convince netizens to take any of my 'live' videos and offer them 'prizes'," said Siti.
Siti urged Malaysians to inform their family members and close friends that she had never organised any social media competition with the promise of attractive prizes.
"There are many cases of fraud using my name and it has been going on for a long time.
"I really hope that everyone will be careful because these scammers are targeting the elderly," she said.
