KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 9 S. Sivasangari breezed past England's Alicia Mead to book her place in the quarter-finals of the US$100,000 Silicon Valley Open in Redwood City, California, yesterday (Oct 12).
The Asian champion, who received a first-round bye, needed just 21 minutes to dispatch world No. 44 Mead with an emphatic 11-2, 11-3, 11-7 victory.
Third seed Sivasangari will face world No. 24 Zeina Mickawy of Egypt for a spot in the semi-finals today (Oct 13).
Zeina overcame Hong Kong's Ka Yi Lee 11-5, 11-5, 11-8 in 24 minutes.
