KUALA LUMPUR: Wong Weng Son has set his sight on winning a fourth world title in Japan in October before retiring.
The exponent from Seremban, who turns 32 on Sept 19, hopes this will be the perfect birthday gift.
Weng Son's main rivals for the world title will come from hosts Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, Hong Kong and Macau.
"My target is to achieve a fourth world title before my retirement, and to prove that I'm still able to perform at the age of 32.
"If I win a fourth world title and retire, I want to start work in another career.
"Finally my advice to wushu exponents who want to become a world champion like me is - action is better than words, try first before you see any hope.
"Without the first step, you will never know your potential. Never be afraid of your first step and keep pushing yourself until you reach the highest point."
Weng Son thanked the president of Malaysian Wushu Federation, Datuk Chong Kim Fatt, the National Sports Council and the Olympic Council of Malaysia for helping him to become a world champion all these years.
