KOTA KINABALU: Sabah's Meilaura Dora Jimmy won a gold medal for Malaysia at the 56th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships in Indonesia.
The 44-year-old from Kepayan near here triumphed in the bodybuilding (up to 55kg) category, competing against three participants during the week-long competition, which ends today (Aug 12).
She also took fifth place in the mixed pairs category.
"I have been preparing since the World Games in South Korea lastv year.
"Thank God that the effort and sacrifices I made, including maintaining a strict diet throughout the year, paid off.
"I would like to thank the national and state sports councils, the Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation and the Sabah Bodybuilding Association for the trust they placed in me."
Meilaura said the Indonesian event would help her prepare for the World Games in the Maldives in November.
