KUALA LUMPUR: There was no podium show from hosts Malaysia as Singapore continued to dominate the Asian Junior Bowling Championships for the second straight day by sweeping both the boys' and girls' doubles gold medals.
Malaysia's Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee-Afiqah Kamilia Ali came closest to a medal after coming in fourth in the girls' doubles after amassing 2,356 total pinfalls at Sunway Mega Lanes today (June 19).
Singapore enjoyed a 1-2 finish through Isabelle Wee-Jean Neo (2,454) and Hazel Tan-Ella Tan (2,446), while third place went to Australia's Emily Hart-Emily Hinspeter (2,414).
Another Malaysian combination, Intan Nor Edryana Nor Azliman-Nur Ainul Hayat Ad Nor, finished fifth after posting 2,301.
The national boys' team fared even poorer, with Ahmad Farish Danial-Wan Zarif Ikram being the best-placed pair at eighth on 2,455, followed by Ethan Damien Goh-Danial Abu Samah (ninth, 2,453).
Singapore's Joshua Gaza Zoo-Aviel Chua combined to shoot 2,585 to claim a 14-pin margin win over Qatar's Talal Al Marri-Ibrahim Al Moreikhi (2,571).
The United Arab Emirates' Nasser Alkandar-Adel Ali registered 2,526 for bronze.
With another two gold won, Singapore maintained a 100% winning record in all four events thus far.
Yesterday (June 18), Singapore ruled both the boys' and girls' singles contests through Mark Leong and Nura Salsabila Zulkifli, respectively.
Malaysia could only muster bronze in both events, with Ethan and Qurratu'ain Izdihar Pozi being the contributors.
The hosts will be looking to bounce back in the boys' and girls' team events tomorrow (June 20).
