Hafizuddin returns to action in MHL after injury layoff

KUALA LUMPUR: National goalkeeper Hafizuddin Othman, who has been out of action since June due to a shoulder injury, will get to play in the Malaysia Hockey League (MHL) which begins on Jan 4.

He aims to help Terengganu win at least a title after failing to do so this season.

Hafizuddin, 32, is the most experienced goalkeeper in the country (105 international caps), having represented Malaysia since 2014.

"I hope to win the Best Goalkeeper award in the MHL for the fourth time," said Hafizuddin, who was the MHL best keeper in 2014, 2023 and 2024.

The other national players in the Terengganu team are defender Fariz Harizan, midfielder Syarman Mat Tee, forward Akhimullah Anuar Esook and the Saari brothers, Faizal and Fitri.

Terengganu have also roped in South Korean Lee Nam Yong and South Africa's national player Samkelo Mvimbi in midfield.

Terengganu, who bagged the treble last year, will face Tenaga Nasional in the Charity Shield on Jan 4 at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.
