KUALA LUMPUR: World No. 1 Nelly Korda and Paris Olympics gold medallist Lydia Ko of New Zealand are set to grace the Maybank Championship at the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (KLGCC) from Oct 24-27.
The Maybank Championship, offering a US$3 million (RM12.7 million) purse — the largest among Asian LPGA events — will also feature defending champion Celine Boutier and last year's playoff rival, Thailand's Jeeno Thitikul.
The other leading players in the 78-player field include world No. 2 Lilia Vu, Evian Championship winner Ayaka Furue, former world No. 1 Ruoning Yin and Brooke Henderson, who has two Majors to her name.
Also set to tee it up at KLGCC are Korean Amy Yang, who won this year's PGA Championship, Jin Young Ko, two-time US Women's Open champion Yuka Saso and Hannah Green.
Joining the top players are five regional talents who earned their spots through the inaugural Maybank Championship Asean Qualifier at KLGCC last month.
Indonesia's Ida Ayu Indira Melati Putri, who won the qualifier, will be joined by her amateur compatriot Kristina Natalia Yoko, Thailand's Chayanit Wangmahaporn, and Malaysia's Liyana Durisic and Nur Durriyah Damian.
