KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) claimed the Supermokh Cup Under-14 title with a thrilling 2-1 victory over defending champions Buriram United in the final at the National Sports Council field in Bukit Jalil today.
Captain Fareez Danial Fadzly was the hero for JDT, scoring both goals in the 19th and 57th minutes.
Buriram fought back, narrowing the deficit through Taratap Ridking's 70th-minute strike, but it wasn't enough as JDT held on for the win.
JDT coach Rodolfo Villa lauded his team's focus and adaptability throughout the tournament.
"It was a very competitive tournament. However, my players adapted to the game plan in every match," said Villa.
"My players were focused and well-prepared for the competition, and they achieved a good result in the end."
In the Under-14 third-place playoff, the Mokhtar Dahari Academy (AMD) edged Reliance Foundation's Young Champs 2-1.
In the Under-13 final, China's Zhejiang PFC secured a 1-0 victory over AMD.
Meanwhile, in the Under-12 category, the National Football Development Programme's (NFDP) A team defended their title with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Pattaya United. – BERNAMA
