KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) continued their unbeaten run in the Super League with a commanding 6-1 thrashing of Kelantan Darul Naim, powered by a hat-trick from Bergson da Silva and a brace from Arif Aiman Hanapi.
Despite playing as the "away" team, JDT were firmly in their element as the match was held at their home turf, the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium.
Kelantan held off JDT for 42 minutes before Da Silva broke the deadlock, swiftly adding a second goal three minutes later to hand the Southern Tigers a 2-0 lead at half-time.
The second half saw Arif Aiman step into the spotlight, extending JDT's lead in the 56th minute. He struck again just two minutes later, making it 4-0.
Kelantan briefly rallied in the 65th minute with a goal from Layth Ali Abdalrahim Kharoub, but any hopes of a comeback were crushed when Da Silva completed his hat-trick in the 71st minute, restoring JDT's four-goal advantage.
The rout was sealed in the 83rd minute when Kelantan's Umeir Aznan turned the ball into his own net, handing Hector Bidoglio's men a sixth goal of the night.
Meanwhile, at the City Stadium, Negri Sembilan and Penang played out a thrilling 2-2 draw.
Negri took an early lead just a minute into the game, courtesy of an own goal by Penang's Aqil Irfanuddin Sabri.
The home side equalised through Rodrigo Da Silva in the 14th minute, and two minutes later, Dylans gave Penang the lead with a quick follow-up goal.
However, Negri's new signing, Sebastian Avanzini, levelled the match in first-half stoppage time. Both teams battled for the winning goal in the second half, but neither could break the deadlock, leaving the score tied at 2-2.
