KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu coach Tomislav Steinbruckner was unhappy that they were not immediately informed about the video assistant referee (VAR) system not functioning during their match against Penang yesterday.
The match concluded in a goalless draw at the City Stadium in Penang, and the Turtles were left to rue the absence of the VAR system as they had a Manuel Ott goal disallowed in the first half.
"Why was it only after 20 minutes did the referee tell us that there is no VAR?" demanded Steinbruckner.
The VAR system could not be used as the City Stadium had been facing technical issues.
Penang coach Akmal Rizal Rakhli was content with his players' performance, but stressed there is room for improvement and said: "It is not easy to play a big team like Terengganu. We created chances but failed to convert them. This is an issue we need to resolve."
Meanwhile, Kuching City coach Aidil Sharin Ishak believes his team need to improve on their consistency after drawing 2-2 with Sri Pahang at the State Stadium in Sarawak.
"We saw two different sides (of Kuching City) today. We dominated in the first half and played good football," said Aidil.
"But we need to learn to be consistent when leading."
After two matches, defending champions Johor Darul Ta'zim topped the table with six points. Terengganu (four), Sri Pahang (four), Sabah (four) and Police (three) rounded out the top five.
