Pearly-Thinaah bounce back to advance in India Open

KUALA LUMPUR: Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah bounced back from their Malaysia Open disappointment to win their first match of the season, reaching the second round of the India Open on Wednesday.

The World No. 7 women's doubles pair defeated India's Mrunmayee Deshpande-Prerana Alvekar 21-8, 21-19 in just 26 minutes at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex in New Delhi.

It was a much-needed win for Pearly-Thinaah, who suffered a first-round exit at the season-opening Malaysia Open last week at the hands of Indonesia's Lanny Tria Mayasari-Siti Fadia Ramadhanti.

Their next test comes on Thursday against China's Jia Yi Fan-Zhang Shu Xian, the Malaysia Open runners-up.
