National badminton coach Bin Shen to quit

KUALA LUMPUR: The BA of Malaysia (BAM) will lose another home-grown coach as national men's doubles coach, Tan Bin Shen, will resign from his position effective Jan 13.

Bin Shen joined BAM as an assistant coach to Indonesian Flandy Limpele in December, 2020, and later worked as Rexy Mainaky's deputy from April, 2022.

Bin Shen played a more prominent role as the men's doubles head coach after Rexy's promotion to BAM coaching director in September, 2023.

The 40-year-old Bin Shen is also credited with the rise of several men's doubles pairs, including former world champions, Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.

His departure is likely to open the door for Indonesian coaching legend Herry Iman Pierngadi to take over the national men's doubles depatment.

Herry, who has produced numerous Indonesian Olympics and world champions, has left the Indonesia BA.
