KUALA LUMPUR: Advancing age has not stopped shuttler Cheah Liek Hou from continuing his great run on the World Para Tour this year.
Liek Hou, who plays in the SU5 category, won the World Para Championships in Pattaya in February and capped his splendid year by successfully defending his Paralympic gold in Paris in August.
He had also won the Spanish Para International Level 1 and Level 2 events as well as the Four Nations tournament in Glasgow this year.
Remarkably, the 36-year-old's appetite for titles has not slowed down as he eyes the Bahrain Para International on Dec 11-15.
"At my age now, I don't feel any pressure. If I can win one competition, I can win more and I just keep thinking about creating history and more records," said Liek Hou.
"I will be playing eight to nine tournaments next year and the bigger goal is to win the 2026 Asian Para Games gold in Japan," said Liek Hou who was rewarded with RM10,000 from the Kuala Lumpur BA yesterday under its incentive scheme.
