KUALA LUMPUR: Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai's gallant run at the China Open came to an agonising end as they fell to world No. 3 Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dongping in the mixed doubles final in Changzhou today.
World No. 12 Soon Huat-Shevon could not capitalise on a fine start as they lost 16-21, 21-14, 21-17 to the China pair at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium.
The husband-and-wife pair saved six match points while trailing 20-11 in the third game, but it was not enough to stop Yan Zhe-Dongping from winning their third World Tour title this year.
It was Soon Huat-Shevon's first appearance in a Super 1000 final.
The Malaysians had won the Swiss Open and the Malaysian Masters before the China Open.
