KUALA LUMPUR: Pearly Tan-M. Thinaah pulled off a sensational upset by defeating world No. 2 Baek Ha Na-Lee So Hee to secure a spot in the Hong Kong Open women's doubles final today.
The world No. 8 Malaysians beat the Koreans 22-20, 17-21, 21-15 15 in a thrilling 74-minute semi-final at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
Pearly-Thinaah, who last tasted victory at the French Open in 2022, will battle Korea's Kim So Yeong-Kong Hee Yong or China's Liu Sheng Shu-Tan Ning for the title tomorrow.
The duo are eager to go one step further after finishing runners-up at the Korea Open earlier this month.
