KUALA LUMPUR: Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh congratulated shuttler Lee Zii Jia for winning the men's singles title at the Australian Open after beating Japan's Kodai Naraoka on Sunday — his second title this year.
"Congratulations to Lee Zii Jia for winning the Australian Open. Keep up the momentum! #RoadtoGold," said Yeoh on FB on Monday.
Zii Jia will likely move up to No. 7 in the world, guaranteeing a seeding at the Paris Olympics on July 26-Aug 11 after his victory in Sydney.
The independent shuttler also won the Thailand Open last month.
Other Malaysians who qualified for the Paris Games are Goh Jin Wei (women's singles), Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik (men's doubles), Pearly Tan-M.Thinaah (women's doubles) and Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei (mixed doubles). - Bernama
