KOTA BARU: The opposition will next week reveal its decision on whether to accept a memorandum of understanding on allocations for its MPs.
Perikatan Nasional (PN) chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said the decision would be made by opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.
The Kota Baru member of parliament, however, refused to disclose details of the decision.
"What I can confirm is that we held a meeting in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
"The meeting was attended by all opposition MPs and all agreed to the decision."
On Sept 2, Takyuddin had said there was a list of conditions allegedly imposed by the unity government on opposition MPs for them to receive the allocations.
The draft MoU on opposition allocations, received on Aug 6, had outlined seven conditions, including asset declarations, support for the government until the end of the 15th parliamentary term, and adherence to matters related to race, religion and royalty (3R).
Takiyuddin had labelled the conditions as "odd" and said the MoU for compulsory allocations was for opposition MPs to carry out their work.
He said a previous federal administration had given the allocation to all MPs.
However, unity government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil had said on Sept 3 that the MoU was not final and could be discussed.
Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said he was not happy with the draft.
The Machang MP accused the federal government of giving preferential treatment to "DAP states" and neglecting states that had voted for PN.
He did not reveal the proposed amount.
He said PN MPs had been given a gag order on this until a press conference was held.
