Tuan Ibrahim says says Bersatu will contest in Nenggiri seat

KOTA BARU: Pas confirmed today that it will make way for its ally Bersatu to contest in the Nenggiri by-election next month because the seat belongs to the party.

Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said Perikatan Nasional (PN) adheres to the principle that a seat belongs to the party which won it in the polls.

"There is no issue of Pas and Bersatu vying for the seat because, in principle, the seat belongs to Bersatu.

"Although this matter was not decided in any meeting, we follow the existing principle. PN will, however, hold a meeting about it in the near future," he said when contacted today.

When commenting on the actions of Gua Musang Pas leaders who submitted candidate names in hopes that the party could contest in the Nenggiri by-election, Tuan Ibrahim said that was done based on their personal opinions.

It was reported that the Gua Musang Pas submitted three candidate names to the state leadership for consideration in the Nenggiri by-election on August 17.

Gua Musang Pas chief Azman Ahmad said the proposed candidates are locals and leaders of the area.

Meanwhile, Kelantan Bersatu chief Datuk Kamaruddin Md Noor said the party leadership would finalise a candidate to contest the by-election next week after it submits several names.
