Tanjong Karang MP Zulkafperi's status in Dewan questioned by PN [WATCH]

KUALA LUMPUR: A Perikatan Nasional (PN) lawmaker has questioned Tanjong Karang member of parliament (MP) Datuk Dr Zulkafperi Hanapi's status in the Dewan Rakyat, who had his Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) membership revoked recently.

Besut MP Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh had attempted to raise the matter during the question-and-answer session, presided over by Deputy Speaker Alice Lau.

"I would like to seek advice. I want to know the position of Tanjong Karang. Is he with the government or the opposition?"

Lau said he did not raise any Standing Order, and told him to sit down and not to waste time.

She then called Khairil Nizam Khirudin (Perikatan Nasional-Jerantut), who was supposed to ask the next question.

However, Che Mohamad Zulkifly said: "I'm not wasting time, I just want an explanation."

Lau did not allow him to continue and asked him to seek an explanation from Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul later.

Che Mohamad Zulkifly appeared dissatisfied by Lau's statement.

"Ah sudah¦ tak layan langsung (Oh come on, I'm not being entertained at all)."

Lau said if he was dissatisfied, he could leave the august house.

He continued to voice his dissatisfaction and said the deputy speaker must be fair, and then proceeded to sit down.

Zulkafperi is part of the six Bersatu "rebels" who had their party memberships stripped after declaring their support for the unity government and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The other five are Labuan MP Datuk Dr Suhaili Abdul Rahman, Gua Musang MP Mohd Azizi Abu Naim, Jeli MP Zahari Kechik, Kuala Kangsar MP Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid, and Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal.
