ALOR STAR: The body of a man who went missing after slipping into Sungai Kedah near Jalan Dato Kumbar here has been recovered yesterday evening.
Kedah Fire and Rescue Department Zone 1 chief Ahmad Aminudin Abd Rahim said the victim, believed to be in his 40s, was reported missing earlier in the day after he fell into the river.
Aminudin said the body was located at 6.58pm, just 16 minutes after a dive search effort commenced.
"The victim is believed to have fallen into the river and drowned. Initial efforts focused on the riverbank and surface searches using a boat.
"The water rescue team initiated the first dive at 6.42pm. By 6.58pm, the victim was found," he said in a statement today.
Aminudin added that the body was handed over to the police for further action.
