SHAH ALAM: Police have confirmed no foul play had been identified in the death of a Reserve Officer Training Unit (Palapes) cadet last November.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the decision was made after the investigation paper was referred to the Attorney-General's Chambers.
"The case has been concluded, and we recorded approximately 64 statements from all parties.
He added that the investigation paper was referred to the prosecutors, who determined there was no wrongdoing or foul play in the incident.
"The deceased passed away due to heat stroke. We have classified the case as resolved, with no criminal offences committed by any party," he said during a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters today.
Previously, it was reported that a cadet from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) had died on Nov 13, following allegations by his father that his son had been physically abused.
This included claims of being stomped on the chest and forced to perform various acts, such as mimicking a horse and being ridden by Palapes trainers.
Police later confirmed that Muhammad Amir Rusyaidi Muhammad Zaidi died on Nov 13 due to heat stroke and multiple organ failure.
The student died after three days of treatment, having been admitted to the hospital on Nov 10.
The police also revealed that statements had been recorded from various individuals, including medical officers, training officers, students involved, and the complainant.
