PENAMPANG: Sabah Pakatan Harapan (PH) should be united so that it can serve the people better, said state DAP chairman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe.
Commenting on the recent reports of a possible change in the Sabah PH leadership, Phoong said that there was no issue with only certain party components holding the chairmanship.
The coalition recently elected local-based party United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation president Datuk Ewon Benedick to helm the party. Ewon took over the position from Api-Api PKR division chief Datuk Seri Christina Liew.
"Regardless of the problems, the selection of the Sabah PH chairman is a democratic process. There was an annual general meeting to choose the leaders, the same as all other political parties and even non-governmental organisations. Even if there are any disputes, they should be brought into the meeting and discussed properly. We should not bring it to the media or newspaper, as if we are divided," he told the media after the Parti Bersatu Sabah-Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku Sabah Christmas celebration at the Hongkod Koisaan here.
Phoong, who is also the state Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship minister, said that the people, including the coalition members, should be united in the spirit of Christmas and New Year.
"Christmas is a message of unity, unity in diversity. Although we have differences, we should be united. We are hoping that in 2025, Sabah PH will be stronger and united so that we can serve the people of Sabah," he said.
