KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested two men believed to be involved in a clash following a football match at the Bandar Tasik Selatan train station on Saturday.
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the suspects, aged 22 and 24, have been remanded for two days, from Dec 24 until tomorrow.
"Both suspects, who were arrested at their residences, are being investigated under Sections 147 and 427 of the Penal Code," he said in a statement today.
"The police take this incident seriously and urge the public to refrain from any unlawful activities."
On Saturday, two rival groups of football supporters clashed at the Bandar Tasik Selatan train station in Sungai Besi.
The group, comprising 20 to 30 people, had just disembarked from a train and began behaving aggressively.
One group attacked supporters from the opposite team who were travelling on the train.
The attackers threw rubbish bins, hurled punches and kicks, and one of them attempted to drag a passenger out of the train as the doors were closing.
The incident, captured on closed-circuit television camera and mobile phone recordings by onlookers, has since gone viral on social media.
