Police question car owner after fatal Federal Highway crash

PETALING JAYA: Police have questioned the owner of the car that caught fire after crashing into an LRT pillar along the Federal Highway on Thursday.

The crash had resulted in the death of the driver.

Petaling Jaya deputy district police chief Superintendent M Hussin Sollehuddin Zolkifly said police have obtained the details of the vehicle owner and taken the individual's statement.

Based on the statement, the vehicle owner believes that the victim was his child, who was using and driving the car at the time of the incident.

"However, police can only confirm the identity of the victim when the results of the DNA test are obtained," he said.

"DNA samples have been requested, and the results are expected to be available within one to two weeks," he added.

It was reported on Thursday that a car burst into flames after crashing into an LRT pillar along the Federal Highway and the driver was burnt to death in the incident.

Initial investigations revealed that the accident occurred at around 6.20am, when the car skidded and crashed into the LRT pillar.
