KUALA LUMPUR: The father of a baby whose body was allegedly stored in a morgue refrigerator for more than two weeks, filed a police report yesterday.
This was confirmed by his lawyer, Muhammad Hariz Md Yusoff, who said it was made at the Kota Damansara police station last night.
"Our client has filed two police reports regarding this issue, including one related to wrongful detention," Yusoff said.
"However, we cannot disclose further details about the reports as they are under investigation."
Earlier, it was reported that the father of the baby gave a three-hour deadline to social media users who spread defamatory accusations to retract their statements or face legal action.
Lawyer Datuk Ahmad Zaharil Muhaiyar said his team had identified several social media account owners who had spread false claims about his client, including allegations that he was unmarried.
He also stated that civil and criminal lawsuits could be filed against the hospital for allegedly storing the baby's body for 16 days due to the father's failure to settle the medical bill.
However, he emphasised that further investigation by the police and the Health Ministry was needed.
The father expressed his disappointment over the accusations, including claims that he was unmarried, as well as personal insults directed at him.
He reportedly said he would not hesitate to take legal action and had entrusted his lawyer to proceed with further steps.
