KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur has recorded the highest number of heads of hardcore poor households, with 474, according to the national poverty database eKasih as of last month.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Federal Territories) Dr Zaliha Mustafa said that Kedah had the second-highest number (341), followed by Sabah (289) and Johor (275).
Perlis, Melaka, Negri Sembilan, and Putrajaya reported zero heads of hardcore poor households.
"As of Nov 30, a total of 393,730 heads of household were registered under eKasih, with 2,191 categorised as hardcore poor and 391,539 as poor," she said in a written parliamentary reply.
Zaliha was responding to a question from S Kesavan (PH-Sungai Siput), who asked for a breakdown of those registered under eKasih.
She also said that Sabah had the highest number of poor heads of household (71,900), followed by Sarawak (58,877) and Kelantan (58,684).
Putrajaya recorded the lowest number of poor households, with just 38, followed by Labuan (1,772) and Kuala Lumpur (6,856).
