ALOR STAR: The number of flood evacuees in the state has dropped to 2,861 in two districts as weather conditions improve.
A 4pm update from the state Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported that the evacuees were housed at 17 temporary relief centres in Kota Setar and Kubang Pasu.
This marked a decrease from the 3,676 evacuees recorded at 8am.
The decline follows the return of all 117 evacuees from 35 families who had been staying at three relief centres in Pokok Sena.
Kota Setar remains the hardest-hit district, with 2,479 evacuees from 740 families at 14 relief centres.
In Kubang Pasu, 382 evacuees from 110 families are being sheltered at three relief centres.
