Sabah pledges RM50 million to ease villagers' electricity woes

KOTA KINABALU: Starting next year, the Sabah state government will allocate RM50 million to assist villagers who are struggling to pay their electricity bills.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor made the announcement during the Sabah State Education Assistance Ceremony at the main banquet hall in Menara Kinabalu, today.

"This initiative aims to ease the burden of eligible villagers who are facing difficulties in paying their electricity bills," he said in a statement.

He also announced that from next year, the state government would provide RM300 annually to hardcore poor parents in Sabah.

Earlier, Hajiji reiterated the state government's commitment to providing various educational assistance to ensure Sabahans not only further their education but also excel at higher levels.

"Education is a crucial foundation for our youth to become knowledgeable, ethical and high-quality successors of the nation," he said.
