KUALA LUMPUR: CIMB Group Holdings Bhd has committed RM2.5 million to support immediate flood relief efforts and long-term recovery for victims.
The company said that through the CIMB Foundation's partnership with non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the funds will provide food, essentials and recovery assistance.
CIMB added that it supported Kembara Kitchen, a disaster-relief NGO, in its humanitarian efforts on a two-pronged approach.
"First, the CIMB Foundation has sponsored five retort machines to the NGO for efficient production of ready-to-eat meals packs for immediate deployment to victims of disasters and responders.
"These meal packs can last up to two years without refrigeration.
"Since 2021, CIMB has distributed over 240,000 ready-to-eat meal packs, and during the current flood season, the group contributed another 80,000 through Kembara Kitchen," it said in a statement.
CIMB group chief executive officer Novan Amirudin said they were committed to helping the community and easing their burden.
"We hope our efforts will help ease our individual and business customers' additional financial burden caused by the floods, and provide funds to help affected communities to rebuild their lives and livelihoods."
CIMB also announced an initiative to ease the financial burden on its customers through its Flood Relief Assistance Plan.
Affected individuals, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro SMEs can apply for a six-month payment relief on loans and financing, with no late charges or fees.
For small businesses needing more help, CIMB offers a Disaster Relief Facility of up to RM700,000 at preferential rates, ensuring they can recover and rebuild.
The statement said applications require only basic customer information, while fees for lost or damaged banking documents, cards or cheques will be waived.
