MELAKA: Three people were burnt to death after the car they were travelling in caught fire following a collision with a bridge wall at Jalan Kampung Seri Lanchang, Merlimau, earlier this morning.
Operations commander Assistant Fire Superintendent Mohd Farid Abu Bakar said his team received a call about the incident at 9.09 am.
He said that a team of 11 personnel, including officers from the Merlimau and Jasin Bestari fire and rescue stations, was deployed to the scene for rescue operations.
"Upon arrival at 9.16 am, the Operations Response Team found that a Proton Iswara had veered off course, collided with the bridge wall, and was 90 per cent engulfed in flames.
"Three victims were trapped inside the vehicle and were confirmed dead by medical personnel," he said.
