GEORGE TOWN: Lithuanian street artist Ernest Zacharevic, renowned for his vibrant murals in Penang, expressed surprise upon discovering that his Armenian Street artwork had been featured on the livery of an AirAsia plane.
According to Malay Mail Online, Ernest shared a photograph of the AirAsia aircraft adorned with his mural, taken at Penang International Airport on Nov 22, in an Instagram story yesterday.
He captioned the post with the message: "I think we need to talk…" and tagged both the airline and its founder, Tan Sri Tony Fernandes.
Prominently displayed on the forward section of the fuselage, a portion of his well-known mural, 'Children On Bicycle,' has captured much attention.
According to the Singapore Straits Times, Ernest said that the airline did not obtain his consent to use the artwork and that this was not the first time.
"I first noticed it on my friend's Instagram story and then I saw it myself at the airport on Friday," he said.
He added that he would not attempt any legal action and would try to resolve this with AirAsia first.
