SERDANG: A 49-year-old e-hailing driver had a close shave when the car she was driving skidded and plunged into a lake near The Mines shopping mall here yesterday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner AA Anbalagan said the female driver was on her way to pick up a passenger at Aestetica Residence when the incident occurred at around 3.30pm.
"It was raining heavily at the time.
"As she was driving, the victim claimed that the stagnant water and heavy rain made it difficult for her to see clearly, causing her to skid suddenly into the lake," he said in a statement today.
He added that the driver managed to escape through the driver's side window before the vehicle was fully submerged.
The driver was then rescued by a boat near the lake, he said.
The incident was captured in a clip that has gone viral on several social media platforms.
