KLUANG: A doctor and his son were critically injured after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) rammed into their Perodua Bezza yesterday evening.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the doctor, Dr Agung Nugroho Darmawan, 40, suffered head and internal injuries and broken ribs.
The Indonesian national's son, Said Hassan, 4, sustained serious head injuries.
"Agung Nugroho is now being treated in the Enche' Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital's Intensive Care Unit," he said.
Said was rushed to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Baru.
The driver of the SUV, an 18-year-old high school student was unharmed.
Bahrain said preliminary investigations indicate the SUV was travelling from Bandar Kluang towards Taman Seri Impian and entered a roundabout.
The Perodua Bezza entered the roundabout at another entry point into the oncoming SUV.
The case is being probed under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act for driving without due care and attention.
The doctor had to be extricated from the car using special tools, while members of the public pulled Said out of the vehicle. Both were unconscious.
Dashcam footage of the accident has since gone viral.
