KUALA LUMPUR: A video of a teenager catching a catfish in a paddy field with a broken fishing rod has gone viral on social media.
The TikTok video, posted by @rinduibuu1, features a young boy determined to land the fish despite his rod being snapped in half, with the guides detached from the grip.
Undeterred by the mishap, he tightly gripped the rod and reel seat to successfully catch the fish he had hooked.
After landing the catch, the boy expressed his excitement and attempted to reattach his broken rod.
The entire incident sparked a flurry of humorous comments from viewers.
User @tokwae1 said that despite the broken rod, the teenager didn't go home "kumpau" (empty-handed), a term commonly used in the angler community.
