KUALA LUMPUR: Five people, including a child, were rescued during a water surge incident in Kampung Batu 10 along the Cheras-Kajang Highway yesterday.
Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Ahmad Mukhlis Mokhtar said the department received a call about the incident at 9.05pm.
A fire engine with six officers and firemen from the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene.
"The operation commander reported that five victims, consisting of three men, a woman and a boy were trapped due to the water surge.
"The team used ladder equipment to assist the victims in crossing the river," he said in a statement today.
He said that all five victims were successfully rescued and did not sustain any injuries.
