KAJANG: The Selangor government will establish a task force to assist children linked to Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) from various aspects.
According to Buletin Utama, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the task force will include the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) and the Social Welfare Department (JKM), focusing on rehabilitating and obtaining basic information from the children.
"Most of them are declared orphans and placed in shelters, but they actually have parents. Therefore, we need to first verify their lineage and background.
"From initial findings, some were taken to these centres as early as 47 or 48 days old, and there are also those who haven't had contact with their parents for a long time. We need some time to manage this, but what's important is how we handle it after that period," he said.
He mentioned this to the media during a visit to the department's shelter here today.
He added that, so far, more than 200 out of the 400 Selangor children have been placed in three safe locations under the department, with more to be added if needed.
"In the short term, Jais will send teachers and volunteers, while JKM will also provide counsellors.
"We also have support from the Health Ministry and the Education Department, which will assist in the process of early school admission and so forth."
Commenting on the condition of the children, Amirudin said they were still experiencing emotional and physical instability.
"Their emotions and physical state are mixed, and we see that the indoctrination is thick, growing stronger as they age.
"Based on basic information, they can read, count, and understand, which means they are in an educational system, but there might be errors, deviations, or teachings that stray from the basic curriculum.
"This requires efforts from all parties, which is why this task force is essential. We will involve all responsible parties to individually assess their emotional state, faith, understanding, interests, and education," he said.
