MoE launches seven-year Strategic Education Plan

PUTRAJAYA: The Education Ministry has launched its Strategic Education Plan (PSKPM) 2024 to 2030, which includes five strategic thrusts to systematically and holistically address educational issues in line with the changing times.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said this action plan will be implemented comprehensively over the next seven years.

"The field of education is a challenging one. Ongoing issues and the quality of education need to be addressed systematically and holistically in line with changing times," she said at the plan's launch at the ministry's monthly assembly here today.

The five strategic thrusts are:

- Improving access and quality of education
- Strengthening digital education
- Enhancing basic facilities of the ministry's educational institutions
- Empowering human resource management
- Reforming governance systems

Fadhlina said the five strategic thrusts will be supported by 17 strategies, 66 programmes, and 82 key performance indicators (KPIs) designed to achieve the ministry's vision and mission.

The vision and missions, she said, are 'Quality Education, Educated Individuals, Prosperous Nation' and 'Sustaining a Quality Education System to Develop Individual Potential in Line with National Aspirations.'

She said two committees would be formed to monitor the implementation of the plan to ensure that each programme and initiative meets the established goals.

The first, she said, is the PSKPM Monitoring Parent Committee, which will be chaired by the ministry's new secretary-general Datuk Ruji Ubi.

The second is the PSKPM Monitoring Working Committee, which will be chaired by its Deputy Chief Secretary (Planning and Development) Datuk Wan Hashim Wan Rahim.

"Both committees will meet once and twice a year, respectively, to ensure the smooth implementation of the PSKPM and to achieve the established goals." she said.
