PADANG TERAP: The body of a man who went missing after falling into Pedu Lake after suffering a seizure during a fishing trip early today has been found.
District police chief deputy superintendent Mulkiaman Manzar said in the 6.50am incident, the victim was pulling up a fishing net with his friend.
"The Padang Terap police and Fire and Rescue Department conducted the search and rescue (SAR) at 8am.
"Checks showed that the victim and his friend had gone to the lake at 4am to lay out the fishing net before taking a short break.
"At 5am, they returned to the lake and were pulling the fishing net up when the victim suddenly suffered a seizure and fell into the water," he said when contacted today.
Mulkiaman said the victim's friend immediately jumped into the water in an attempt to rescue him, but it proved futile.
"His friend immediately contacted the police for help.
"The SAR team subsequently found the victim's body at about 11.45am.
"The body was sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for a post-morterm," he said.
Meanwhile, Kuala Nerang Fire and Rescue Station chief Aminuddin Mad Khozari said the body was found not far from where the victim was last seen.
