IPOH: The Higher Education Ministry is awaiting a report concerning the university students detained during a raid on a swingers' sex syndicate in Kuala Lumpur.
Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said that he needed more information before commenting on the matter.
"I need to receive the reports first; I don't want to make any sweeping statements. It has to be based on facts.
"Regardless of who is involved in such illegal activities, the authorities will take the necessary action. These activities are serious issues that need to be addressed," he said after launching the Nexus Polycc Industry Programme (Index Polycc 2024) at Dewan Jubli Perak, Politeknik Ungku Omar (PUO) here, today.
On Aug 30, police arrested 36 individuals, including university students and civil servants, believed to be involved in illicit sexual activities.
The 36 suspects are allegedly part of a 147,000-member online community called "Swing That Fun," with most members being Malaysians.
The group charged RM388 for membership, with an additional fee of RM400 to participate in "swinging" sessions or RM350 for those attending with a partner.
