PUTRAJAYA: The skies above Putrajaya roared with the thunder of jet engines and the cheers of thousands as Malaysia's 2024 National Day celebration featured a breathtaking airshow.
With the theme "Loud and Agile," the Royal Malaysian Air Force (TUDM) showcased an impressive fleet of 20 helicopters and 13 jets.
The airshow kicked off with the Hawk 208 jets, tearing through the sky at speeds of up to 600 km/h, flying as low as 150 metres above the ground.
The show also highlighted other powerful fighter jets, including the Sukhoi SU-30MKM and F/A-18D Hornet.
Spectators were mesmerised by the deafening roar of the jet engines and the agile manoeuvres that sliced through the air with effortless precision.
Adding to the spectacle, helicopters flew in a diamond formation, symbolising the close cooperation between the nation's defence and emergency services. This included formations from TUDM, the police, and the Fire and Rescue Department, among others.
The helicopters soared at a steady 110 km/h, maintaining an altitude of 200 meters.
Featured models included the Eurocopter EC725AP, AW139, AW109, AS365N Dauphin, MD530G, Mil Mi-17, and Fennec.
Not to be outdone, transport aircraft such as the Airbus A400M and C-130 Hercules also made an appearance, highlighting their vital role in national defence and humanitarian missions.
